Chicago, Illinois
Project Details
Square Footage: 7 Acre Site
Type: Redevelopment and Remediation of Historic Site
Situated at the origin of the I&M Canal, this seven-acre site formerly contained a gas station. The soil was heavily contaminated with petroleum that was seeping into the Illinois River. Kilpatrick, Inc. purchased this distressed property and in partnership with Environmental Group Services Limited, cleaned up the soil and groundwater contamination. The site, now on the National Historical Society Registry for it's concrete walls that depcit the history of the Chicago Waterways. Presently the site proudly holds recreational components such as parks, a boat launch and scenic riverwalk for the public to enjoy.
